International Skills Competitions There are several member based organisations that facilitate international Skills competitions that are held around the world to showcase and inspire excellence in the skills of young people. They all share a similar mantra being to promote, to future generations of young people and those that influence them, the value of taking-up vocational pathways and careers. They all set out to showcase the skill standards needed across a range of sectors so that industry and education establishments can understand what is really required to be globally competitive or competitive within their own geographical region of the world. They all help to lift the image of vocational education and careers helping them to be valued equally and alongside those more academic routes. International Skills Competitions is the work arena to which Skills-Set Ltd operates. Many countries themselves organise and operate their own national skills competitions catering for a wide range industry sectors. They often use their own national skills competitions to excite their own youth and stakeholders to the value of vocational education and careers. Many use them to identify their country’s best competitors who can then go on to compete internationally either on a geographical regional basis and /or on a world platform.
Although all these international competition organisations share the same main visual identity, being that of “WorldSkills” each is an independent organisation with its own board and management structure. Saying this, many individuals and members who are involved in one competition organisation may also have roles within another. The WorldSkills or WorldSkills International organisation is positioned as the lead organisation with other organisation seen as regional derivatives of it.
