OTHER REGIONAL WORLDSKILLS SKILLS COMPETITIONS
There have been other WorldSkills regional skills competitions but some no longer operate, do not operate regularly or now have been
almalagmated into other regionals
WorldSkills Americas
WorldSkills Americas was officially
founded in 2008. It serves as the
regional arm of WorldSkills
International specifically for
countries in North, Central, and
South America. However, this
regional event has stalled ever
since the organisation Senai in
Brazil, indicated that it would no
long take the lead in organisation
the event.
WorldSkills ASEAN
WorldSkills ASEAN was founded
2014 and ran for 13 times with the
last one occuring in 2023 being
hosted by Singapore. It covered
countries in the Southeast Asian
region and had 10 member
countries. It is now unclear if this
regional worldskills competition
will continue futher given that
many of the same countries have
become members of WorldSkills
Asia. A WorldSkill member country
can only belong to one regional
worldskills competition.
WorldSkills GCC
Founded in 2017 WorldSkills GCC
serves countries in the Gulf
Cooperation Council region,
including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman,
Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United
Arab Emirates. Many of the
countries involved in this regional
competition now have joined
WorldSkills Asia and therefore it
ongoing future is uncertain. This
regional competition was
coordinated out ACTVET in the
UAE.
WorldSkills Oceania
WorldSkills Oceania has only
operated once in 2015 and hosted
by New Zealand. It had some 100
competitors coming from 7
different countires but it was only
New Zealand and Australia that
were from the Oceania region.
